Talking Taking the brake light mod a step further...

Upon viewing like 4 forum members cars being rear ended, as well as my dad's, in the past few months. I have concluded that the reason for this is (elevated) by the fact that our cars (the pre-86 people) have no third brake light in back. Sure we can do the mod with the extra light in the lightbar where the fogs would have been, and its a good improvement, but it still leaves all the light down on the bottom, at the height level of honda civics and other "normal" cars. This leaves the SUV crowd not seeing our lights so readily, as they sit so much higher, and are looking higher. I know when I am driving on most cars with them I see the 3rd light first when they slow down. So, we bought a couple 16-super high intensity LED brake light "bars" for $15 each on ebay. They are MEGA bright, just like an OEM third LED light on a typical SUV or car, they stick to the window at the top and then you just solder/splice them into the brake wiring, and thats it. We installed them on both of our SD's tonight, and they look incredible, especially in the dark. SUPER bright and very attention getting. Especially with the other mod, we now have 5 separate sources of brake lighting on the cars. 84 watts of incandescent, and a ton of LED output. I'll try to get some day/night pics on here in a day or two, but they are totally worth it. I stood back about 30 feet and looked when they came on, if you can't see that, then you're probably asleep. So I am very satisfied with the results. Anyone else considered this before? I am sure it will lower the percent of risk of general rear-endings for those of us without the 3rd light in back. Its also high up, meaning it will be seen by those pesty SUV/Hummer and pickup drivers....
