Whats the best way to ship bumpers?
Found some bumpers but it was going to be almost $200 to get them shipped from Washington to Illinois... thats UPS. Anyone know of an alternative? Thanks.

I've found that fedex home delivery is the cheapest way to ship most heavier items.

The only cheap way is to first run it through a wood chipper.
You could use USPO. Last bumper I shipped USPO wouldn't take, too large. I've shipped UPS, shipping a complete 190 front bumper from Michigan to CA was around $100, rear to WA was also around $100. You need to make the box to just fit around the bumper, if the Lx2Wx2H equals 130 or more it is a large package, call 800-pickups for details on what the cutoffs are for package size. BTW, this price was from my business and with my discount. Another option is to ship to a UPS shipper near you, it is significantly cheaper than a residental dropoff. Even shipping to a real business address (not a business in a house, they will bill for residential) as this is cheaper than residential. Next possibility is to have the shipper send it via Grayhound, a little less convenient but for large packages (within limits) I'm told they are quite reasonable.

I just shipped a tranny, pressure plate and clutch, shifter, pedal assy, linkages, and the front and rear portions of the driveshaft from Texas to California for $92 bucks plus change. It was in 3 boxes: tranny and front drive shaft was 69.3lbs, big box with pedals, shifter, linkages, pressure plate and clutch was 60lbs, and rear drive shaft in 2 long boxes taped together was 16.5lbs (54 inches long I think).
This was cheaper than Fed Ex and Greyhound...... I checked. **edit** Whoops, seems like I left out a rather important detail. I used our beloved Postal Service, which I believe raises the price of stamps tomorrow.....
