How to remove rear seat
I didn't want to break anything but I tried pushing, pulling, left, right on the 2 red tabs but nothing happened. How do I release and remove the seat and seat backs? TIA

The seat bottoms and seat backs are two different processes. For the seat bottom, push the little red buttons towards the trunk (in) and pop the seat up. It takes two people to get mine out because it is sticky. Once this is out, three bolts will be visible at the bottom of the seat back that hold it in place. Those three come out, the seat slides up (towards the roof) and the whole thing just pops off. The top of the seat back is just held in by a large pin in a U shaped socket- there are no clips.

Seat bottom, I push red tabs toward trunk as per cava... do one at a time muscle out, remove bolts, on the '82 D there were not there. Seat back up, takes a little work.

And if you don't get finished with what you are doing, don't try to store the seats in the back of the car upside down without putting them back in place or you may end up with a neat little/long tear in the headliner. (I know, please don't ask, still painful to look at, altho my 2yr old named my car "daddy's booboo car")

Carrying handles NOT
And those four metal "straps" on the underside of the seat might look like a neat way to carry your seat. They're just sharp enough that the weight of the seat will cause them to cut your hand. Stupid me.

I pushed on those red tabs but nothing popped or clicked. Should I bang on them with a rubber mallet? What else am I suppose to be doing? Push the tabs while pulling up on the seat? Push the seat toward the trunk? Or pulling seat towards the engine?

Normally, once you pushed in the tabs you lift the seat bottoms up!

Push the red/orange tabs and lift the seat up. Then you can pull it forward and it will slide out. You must sometimes push hard on those tabs, it can be a PITA on your thumbs.
