w210 E300 '97 Suspension Upgrade - Update!

Finished installing the E55 spring w/ #1 pads up front. Haven't gotten to the rear yet, but that's next! Shocks are Eiback Pro-Kit shocks. The shocks and springs are used, previously installed on an E420 so they are nicely broken in.

That front ride height sure looks good to me. I can't believe you can get away with the #1 pads. I've got the thickest pads front and rear and you've still got more clearance than I!

Have you driven it yet? What's the ride quality like?

When are you going to chip the car?

I've only riden it slowly up and down my street as a test to make sure everything seemed ok. So in honesty can't comment on the ride yet.

As for the chip that is something I want to do, I'd like to chip it once I replace the injectors (I think they are all original) and handle the fuel leak I see. I'm mad as while the car was idling in the driveway I was looking at the clear lines (had them all replaced with new lines December '05) and on 2 of the lines that appear to go to the fuel shutoff unit I saw what looked like air bubbles flowing through. Before I started the suspension work I noticed the engine was having some hesitation and even started knocking and bucking when going up a steep hill. I assumed it was air getting into the lines but it's confirmed now. I'm gonna replace all with the Viton o-rings.

I agree looks great! You have me tempted now too... Is there really any point in chipping a non turbo W210? I have a 97 as well.

That sounds like a pre-filter o-ring leak.....

Yea there is believe it or not. I remember from a prior thread I had a few years ago or via private message that someone had a '97 E300 chipped by SpeedTuning USA and was very happy with it. It increases fuel flow so that you don't have to romp on it to get it going. Since the fuel management system is electronically controlled, a ginger foot still maintains the same MPG's or better. I think it's a good 20 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels. So, for a car with a little to begin with, every ft/lb counts :-)

I don't think they have a graph on their site of a dyno for the E300 N/A though....

I recently replaced the pre-filter and o-ring.... Who knows... I have a new plastic line that leads from the heater to the pre-filter as suprisingly it was slightly leaking at the connection (JB Weld) helped. I will remove the manifold and replace all the connections w/ the Viton. Never know when you'll want to run higher concentration(s) of BioD...

Both of those can be difficult o-rings to get sealed up sometimes. Since they're new(er) you might want to try a dab of silicone grease. I've had to resort to that before.

So these are stock E55 springs I take it? Did you pick them up used? Let us know how the ride is compared to stock, I love the look, but want my benz to still ride like a benz:p

My first post says it all...

My goal is to make the car look and feel sportier without giving it the "rice" look.

That car is sexy dropped!

With those wheels the gap between the tire and the fender is perfect!

Now you need some E55 brakes to show off behind the wheels.

Thanks player! I would consider the E55 brakes if the rotors didn't cost $300 a piece. Brake jobs on those have to quite spendy. I am thinking of stainless steel brake lines in the future though along with some caliper paint...
