EGR Valve Removal

Alrighty, I've been searching here for a tutorial/procedure/tip on properly removing or just isolating the EGR valve on an 84 300D.

I found a lot of posts about why someone would want to do to it but never the how. Can someone point me to the "How?" Thanks!

Unplug all lines going to black box on cam cover. The lines going to that thing near thermostat housing, plug. The lines running to VCV and something else, plug up. I switched from a four connector to a three, and the other one from a three to just a piece of vac line. Pics e-mail me.

Go to this thread, it has good pictures of what to do and how to do it on the EGR thing.

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=187877

To make it easier, I had some vacuum line that I used where a stright piece was needed.

Unbolt EGR, remove gasket. Apply hitemp gasket maker. Stick a quarter in the hole. Apply more gasket sealer to other side. Make sure quarter still covers said hole. Rebolt EGR. Let sit overnight.

ahh, I wouldn't waste a quarter on this repair. use a plug from your local electrician. they should have tons available for you for free. 1" ought to do it.

that is ok, IF your egr is working correctly. most are not.
it's best to plug off the exhaust.

Your theory is flawed as they tend to get stuck in open.

If you want to remove it completely and replace it with a proper plate:

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=188285

If you simply want to stop the function of the valve:

Disconnect and plug the vacuum line to the valve.

That's it.
