Help! My lights are strobing
Okay, I just noticed my lights going wacky. The headlights and taillights are strobing for some reason, like an all-around emergency blinker. Just like a car alarm going off, except without the sound.
There's also a constant clicking somewhere under the glove compartment. The speed of the clicking changes but only between 2 speeds. Sometimes it stops, but it resumes. It's also still going on even after the key is out which worries me the most since it'll definately kill my battery. BTW, the lamp out indicator is on, but was on before it started happening.

Update
There's a disconnected horn in the engine bay that's had me curious before. I tried making it function but to no avail.
Well I reconnected while the lights were flashing, out of curiosity, and sure enough: "BEEP!!" This leads me to believe there's an old alarm system in the car going haywire. Fortunately the flashing and clicking has stopped...for now. What can I do to take care of this?

I had that exact problem. When the horn is disconnected, the lights will flash, as the car detects the car is being stolen, and the horn has been disabled. You can either reconnect the horn, and disarm the system by unlocking it, and see if that resolves the problem. If that doesnt work, take the floor paneling out just in front of he passanger side, and unplug the alarm brain. That sould solve your problems.

Here's the catch. The horn was disconnected when I bought the car and there was no indication there was an alarm system other than the horn. All I got was 1 key and the car. That's it.
The next step appears to be locating and disabling the alarm's brain, but I have no experience in doing so. What does it look like and how can I disable it? Am I better off having a professional do it? Mercedes mecanic? Car audio shop?

My 84 300SD developed a rythmic clicking sound (in the same location that you described), which I couldn't pinpoint, so I stopped by a shop in Boise called Eurosport and the technician took the carpet pad out of the front passenger side and up under where your feet rest, there was a black plastic piece with a small metal box with a wire harness connected (the alarm). He disconnected it and the clicking stopped. I have no alarm now which obviously wasn't working correctly anyway, but no more clicking.
