77 300D Transmission
Back from dealer, they adjusted reverse band and it slipped out again, thus no reverse. They were very nice about this, bought the car new from them. Am torn between, used at 350 or rebuilt at 1390+shipping+core+installation. Dealer's price is 5K for transmission and torque converter installed. Dealer says front pump of trans is also bad. Ideas?????

With used, you are taking a chance, especially if there is no warranty. And if there is a warranty, you still have the cost of labor to remove and install it twice (unless you are doing it yourself). If you plan to keep and drive the car, my opinion is to go rebuilt. Then you shouldn't have to worry about it again, and it should have all the updated parts compared ot the used.

Find a new mechanic for starters if they sold you the car. I would go with used and take a chance. These transmissions are easy to remove and install, especially on a NA. You can do it in a weekend with ease.
