49 and feeling like it

I'm surprised at how young a lot of you are. Going by the answers to many questions , you would think that you're all seasoned veterans to this Mercedes hobby. I'm 49 and have worked on cars all my driving life, I could not afford this hobby if I had to pay for the repairs.

Yes, I'm pretty surprized at some of the ages I'm seeing here also. Some of you guys seem a lot older when we talk about these cars, and repairs, and everything to do with them.. I won't jack this thread, but I've got a semi-related topic for you guys. I'll post it as a new thread.

31ish,
rapidly aging as I have two kids (2 and 4 years old).
They always want to help, which is good. My four year old dropped the wheel bearings in the sand, which is bad.

nearly 25. It doesn't surprise me that many of the gear heads here are younger, I was huge into cars in my late teens, and then my interest sort of dropped off, at least until I got my mercedes

45 and tore-up.......
I agree with what a lot above have said. Lots of sharp young folks on this forum. Amazing actually! A lot more on the ball than I was at that age.
My son turned 19 Friday, and had a good time today driving the 240D around on our errands. He does pretty good with a stick. He enjoyed it, but isn't ready to abandon his Nissan Frontier pickup for one of these. His truck never breaks......
Man he spanked me in ping-pong today......

I know the feeling 45; not torn up but torn down

as for my kid--sometimes when I am talking to my daughter I feel as if she is talking down to "the old geezer""--guess I did the same to my Mom at hat age too, however and I was a good son

I am pretty suprised by the ages too... I am 27, and I really expected most of the people here would be my age or older. I figured mid 30's would be the average.

I actually never was interested much in cars or fixing them... actually, I still am not. But, having become of "responsible age," and having to drive a car to get to work and whatnot, I now have to deal with it. I don't have money to pay someone else to fix my car, I can't afford a new car, and I don't want my dad to have to give up every weekend to help me fix every stupid thing that goes wrong with my car.

So... here I am learning on Mercedes diesels! From what I can tell, it is as good a place to start as anywhere.

I work on my car first out of necessity due to lack of $$ and now enjoyment.. Even if I had the cash, I'd still do everything myself. Guess most of the experts are young because unlike the old fold here, we can still handle the speed from tuning these things

45 here too. I just got a Benz diesel of my own, but I rode in them many times when I was a kid, driven by my father. I can't tell you what they were, but I do remember my mother pushing one to get it started.
