What do Shop Forum Members do for a living or wish they did?

I hope no one takes this query the wrong way!
I have seen much more talented educated and brighter people than me working Retail at the mall because of the ebbs, flows and peaks and valleys in the 21st century economy. Anything can happen to anyone.
I found myself pulling cable and wire for a while last month even though I am an Electrical Engineer by training.

If I have my way someday, I would like to be an Electrical Power Distribution Engineer.

Associates degree in electronics engineering managing a heavy equipment shop. Prior to that I ran a crew of 50 and designed equipment for cleaning fuel tanks on Navy ships.

I dont know what I'll be doing next.

My education is Biochemical Engineering, but I have various business that have nothing to do with my educational background. My first business is a property development company, second is a construction company, third is a rental property company (I buy and rent out) and finally I just recently opened up a mechanical and body shop.

Sports copy editor for a newspaper as well as sports writer. I'm a full-time copy editor but also write when they need me to. Today I covered a marathon starting at 6 a.m., am just finishing up writing that story, and will now go in for my copy editing shift from 6 p.m. to ~1 a.m. Most of my days aren't anything near that, though ... usually I just do the copy edit shift, which sometimes goes until 2 a.m. (rarely later).

I was actually an English major, which I don't think there are a lot of on this board. Part of me wishes I had gone into something engineering-related or more mechanical in nature. I like writing but hate making phonecalls, doing interviews, bothering people about things ... not because it's hard work, but because it's kind of socially exhausting after a while.

Telecommunications here, thought current unemployed and back at school full-time to earn a degree, and a few much needed certifications. Give me a few years and I'll be an RCDD, and can hopefully get back in to project management from there.

Masters Degree in Theological Studies. I've been a web developer/programmer for over 10 years now, ha! For the past 6 years, I've been at a local liberal arts university. Love it.
