Where can I find this trailer hitch?

I need a hitch receiver for my US W123 (not a drawbar type, has to be a receiver)

Where can I find one?

I wouldn't trust one bolted to the bumper. The USA bumper isn't built to support a trailer.

Looks like a home made fabricated hitch. The receiver mouth has no collar to prevent stretching.
This hitch won't let the bumper collaps on impact.

Actually, I'm sort of interested in receivers for the W123 with US bumpers. I do, on occasion, end up pulling a trailer, and it would be nice if I didn't have to rely on a Saturn to do it. (Don't laugh too hard. It does okay.)

LOL, you would be incorrect, it happens to be a DaLan hitch. And its mounted to MY car. Its built excellently. (just the black receiver part w/out bolts weighs over 30lbs) I can stand on it and it doesn't budge, incredibly strong. Its bolted through the floor of the trunk with HUGE bolts + a couple distribution plates in there to spread out the weight/force on the floor, and also two heavy bolts straight through the bar on the bumper, which is way stronger than people think it is. The hitch is rated for 250-300ish lbs tongue weight, and up to a 2000lb trailer/total tow weight. I can put my heavy twin-bike carrier on there, load it up with a couple heavy bikes, and pull down on it and it doesn't flex the receiver at all. Very sturdy.

I got it on ebay last year for $150 something. I admit it does affect the "shock action" of the bumper....but I am not too concerned.

Recently removed a hitch from the '82 123, two square hole round head, carriage bolts? In trunk floor, and two bolts in bottom of bumper. When removed, the bumper fell off. Have a factory hitch uninstalled, different from above hitch, can send pics via reg e-mail, PM me if interested.

that looks like a standard bolt on bumper hitch. I think walmart stocks them.

Walmart? Really? I'll have to check that out

pawoSD, I shamelessly took your pictures in the hopes of finding the same hitch that you have. Is there a specific ebay search I should be looking under to find one like you did? I cant seem to find anything

They are pretty rare it seems, I think they still sell them retail from DaLan though....other than occasionally on eBay I really don't know where to find them.

More money, maybe better design.

www.hitch-web.com

Curt Mfg. Company makes a hitch for a little over $400 that doesn't interfere with or rely on the bumper.

If this link actually works for you, this is where I found it:

I have an 83 240D, don't think that would fit

hitch-web lists this one:
http://www.hitch-web.com/proDescrip.asp?ProductCode=1501&OID=8
The picture makes it look like it has a receiver but the description says that its fixed tongue

Hitches

They list one for an 83 240D -- US model. Use the top link & search.

Another route is the one I took -- since mine is gray market & the bumper is different -- I went to a welding shop that is competent & he built & installed one for $150 just recently. I pulled my boat 350 miles with it (we were moving), and it pulled just fine ... top speed 55-60.

It doesn't bolt to the bumper, but bolts to a steel strap somebody added years ago between the bumper mounts to strengthen the pan (after a bumper bending mishap, apparently).

Have DaLan on 124 (300TD)

was the only one that fitted the wagon. Got it at Kurt something. (Husband handled the fit/install.) Around $350-400

The only thing was they threw it into this crappy cardboard box and it was beat to death in shipping. Otherwise no real mfg. issues.
