Jacking Points 1981 Mercedes Benz 300D
Hi--I am new to the forum. I recently acquired a 1981 Mercedes Benz 300D--after looking at the underside, it appears one of the former owners has patched over the jacking points in a misguided attempt to fix some rust holes (I am assuming this was the motive). As a result, I am now wondering how to best go about jacking it up safely--I am working with a floor jack and jack stands. I have worked on trucks before but not sedans so I am not sure what my best options are given the fact the recommended jacking points are covered up. Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated--Thanks in advance, Archie

Got a nice solid (I hope) frame rail in front on either side just behind the wheels. In the rear you can use the differential.

Front, engine cross member. I dont suggest using the diff in the rear. There is a hard point just in front of the tires with a bracket on it. You can also jack directly under the jack points but I have never done that.

Thanks for info
Appreciate the pointers. Haven't gotten to it yet--will likely try and jack up this week. I was thinking to put a two by four at jack points where they have been patched up/covered in the rear to spread the load. Thanks for your help, Archie
