Oring size???

Anyone know the sizes of the two orings on the filter retainging shaft? I need new ones, and would like to go to the hardware store for new ones without pulling the oilfilter. I can't believe they do not come with the oil filters.

I can't tell you right off hand. I ended up buying the multi pack for $2.00 at AutoZone. The pack has two of each. The o rings were missing on my car, when I did the first oil change. You do not have to pull the filter, just the filter cover.

Yes most of the time the top comes off w/o the filter, but not always. I was just hoping that I would not have to pull the top untill I got ready to change oil again.

I will probably have to do just that one day next week, when I change oil again.

ON my OM617, I never had the filter come off with the top. Ger the o rings replaced ASAP, they keep unfiltered oil from by passing the filter, IIRC.

Hey even messing with just the cap is a PIA and I had just hoped to avoid the mess untill oil change time, but it looks like I will have to do it anyway like I did for my old 240D.

Yes I know about the fact they keep the oil from mixing.

they also keep the oil in the filter housing when the engine is not running, helps to prevent startup oil starvation.
