Parting out an W123 300D near New Haven, CT

OK, so its not even my car, but I talked to the owner and he said that for $75 I can take anything I want off of it before he sends it to the salvage yard.

Its your basic Silver over Blue US spec 300D. No engine or transmission. It was rear ended, but there is still lots of good stuff.

I'm pulling the windshield, dashboard, center console, front door panels and sundry little bits for my 84 300TD.

If you need anything and can pick it up (I could ship small stuff), let me knwo ASAP and I'll see if its available.

The doors are excellent BTW. I wish the rear doors would fit on my wagon.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: I will be editing this post with updates as people request parts. Just so people know whats been spoken for.

All,

My current plan is to strip the car next weekend (this weekend is too busy for me), so get any requests in by Friday June 1, 2007. Please try to be as specific as possible with your requests.

Also, I will be travelling to the New England GTG on June 9th, and I drive a wagon. So, if you need any bigger parts, I could bring them with me.

I'm not looking to make any money off of this, just trying to help folks out. But, if enough people could chip in a little bit and I could recoup my investment I obviously wouldn't complain.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

frankjnjr : I will check for the alarmed door handle. I assume you mean driver's door.

JimmyL : Between this one and my wagon, I have access to 4 seat bottoms, I think I'll be able to accomodate you. I'm pretty sure however, that the window switches are gone.

truckinik : I'm planning to grab the tachometer and associated wiring myself, but the speedometer, combination gauge and housing are available. I'm almost certain that I the GP relay is still there.

slarson80 : The ashtray is long gone, but I happen to have an extra one in my garage. What do you need from it, or do you need the whole thing?

79300sdtd : The hood star is gone, sorry.

scratcher : I assume you mean the aux fan for the AC radiator. I was planning to snag it myself. The one on my car works, but is very noisy (sounds like bad bearings). If you need one for parts, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Edit/Delete Message

Rick Surgent : The doors are excellent, maybe very small amount if rust (very small) on the inner bottom edge. You'd have to pick them up, though.

sk8023 : I'm guessing that the carpets are shot since the windows are down (and have been for quite a while), but I'll pull them and see what they look like. Yes they are blue.

Douglas,
I really need the blue seat bottom material. From the passenger seat is OK if it is in better shape than the driver. It can be taken off the seat pretty easily, and shipped cheaply. Heck, if they are both OK I would be OK with that.
I also need the rear window switched in blue if that year has that style, and not the chrome.
I would be wickedly appreciative if the seat bottom works out!!
Mine is terribly split.....

Hey Doug.
How about the gauge cluster? No shipping required, I'll come, and pick it up. I'm from Hamden anyways. I also really really need the Glow Plug Relay, if it's still there. Like desperately, for one of mine. Thanks, Give me a call. I'll email, or P.M. you my phone number. Thanks, Nick

Douglas, that would be GREAT! I wouldn't mind 2 of the seat bottoms if possible, then that would leave 2 for somebody else in need. Am I wrong for wanting the best 2???
It is easiest to remove the seat from car, remove seat back from seat bottom (just 4 bolts I think), then just push down of seat springs and remove bottom cardboard strip piece from channel that it sits in. Then the material just slides off towards front. {if you already knew this, sorry...}
I've had my wagon over 2 years with a terribly split seat bottom, so this is exciting news!!
I'll be very happy to pay shipping plus a "donation" for your efforts. Matter of fact, I'm sure we will all donate happily.......

You're not wrong at all, however the best two will be going in my wagon.

Actually the seats in my wagon are fine, but I was considering swapping seats since I think that the springs in the donor may be better than the ones I have now. I also kind of want the drivers seat with the armrest on it, my wagon does not have one and I really like having one. I'm being indecisive on it though, since the non-armrest one is "euro" and more rare (I have to admit that this seems like stupid logic to me though).

Either way, I'll get you a couple of decent blue seat covers.

Armrest

My Euro has an armrest on the driver's seat ..... maybe it was an option that not many Europeans exercised?

That made me laugh, and if it wasn't wrong for me, it certainly isn't wrong for the person doing the work!

You can put an armrest on either seat. Even passenger seats have the hole for the armrest hardware. Just pull the back off the seat {screw, bottom middle, then pull it down and off} and look for the mounting holes that match your seat that has one.

I'll be very happy with whichever ones I end up with, and I appreciate it very much. My wagon actually has the blue leather, but I don't think blue MB Tex will look that much different, and it is certainly better than big splits......

I was just thinking..... I need two rear window regulators, left and right, for electric windows. Do not need the motors, as that would save on weight. Can't roll the back windows down on the Squash......
This isn't a real big deal if you already have too much to do. I will run across some eventually......
