1983. 126 Factory manual or Bentley manual ?

So I've been going back & forth under the dash this past week. I have air from the defrost only. I pulled the CCU and replaced it with another. Same. I pulled both lower dash panels and the glove box to access all the diaphragms. They all hold vacuum so that baffles me. As I posted a few days ago. I found the nipple off #4 on this junction block on the right side of the console with the solid green hose that goes from there to the diaphragm next to the accelerator, broken off.

I sealed the orifice for the green line and spliced it into the vacuum hose going to it. I have vacuum from the red/green line at the brake booster hose to this junction block but nothing seems to work. My a/c system is charged but I still have hot air from the vents when I hold the lower left diaphragm open with my Mighty Vac. What I assume is the expansion valve just above the accelerator is cold but as I said, hot air from the vents. I'm missing something so I figured I'd get my hands on a Bentley or Factory manual and maybe pull the dash. I work a 1/2 mile from home and school is done for the summer so I can lay the car up while I pull the dash. Figure I'll replace the cap at the same time. Anyone have comments on the differences between the two ? Anyone have either on disc that they're willing to copy for a fee ???

If you're getting hot air while the compressor is running and the CCU is not in defrost mode, you either the monovalve isn't working or the monovalve cartridge diaphragm is torn. The monovalve has nothing to do with vent selection.

I have no experience with the Bentley manual. I didn't know one existed for the 126.

I now the mono-valve has no bearing on vent selection. Kinda 2 separate problems. When I move the temp to hot, I get HOT(heated) air. I had a thermometer in the center vent and it was basically blowing ambient (upper 80's today) air but when I switched the temp all the way hot, I got HOT (heated) air. Still could be the mono-valve ?

Another symptom of a bad monovalve diaphragm is heat at idle, less heat at speed.

I guess the better question is - do you get hot air with the CCU not in defrost and the temp wheel all the way in the blue region?

If you get heated air from the center dash vents you probably have a stuck diverter flap.

It sounds like your Monovalve is stuck partially open even at the cold setting. This requires a rebuid kit since the rubber diaphragm in mine was torn and worn out and I had the same symptoms as you. I don't think you need to pull your dash since everything else seems to be OK.

I get heated air when I turn the temp wheel to the red zone no matter which outlet I have blowing air but it doesn't seem that the evaporator is getting cold, even tho the lines above the accelerator are cold. No matter which setting, I only get air from the defrost outlet and I only get heat (heated air) when I turn up the temp. Guess I'll try the mono-valve before I continue.
The problem of only blowing from the defroster still has me stumped as all the diaphragms hold vacuum. That's why I was gonna cannibalize the dash..

There's substitute for a FSM. Ebay is probably your best bet. Stay clear of the CD's/DVD's. Printed ones are the only way to go. One warning, they are spendy.
You need to look for the volume specifically for the HVAC. The body manuals do not cover it.

All my searching seems to lead to CD's. Is the dealer my only source for a manual ?

Ebay is probably the best source for the money. That's were I got all of my FSM's.
What happened to the online sources? I remember there were a few guys out there that had websites that you could refer to.
