1st Gen Grand Cherokee swap?

Any members on here run 1st Gen Grand Cherokees (ZJ)? My tranny seems to be dying on me, so I'd like to swap in something else. The 5-speed seems like a good option to me.....however.....

At this moment I have in my possession an EXTRA OM617 waiting for something to power. I'd really like to do a swap into the ZJ, and also do the manual tranny as well.

Any thoughts on this?

your talking about putting the 617 an ZJ tranny together? Is the starter wart on the rightside on the ZJ? if so an adapter might be made and they can be paired.

some thread on here talks about a shop that specializes in ALL kinds of adapters. Just a matter of the people who have used the adapter chiming in or finding the original thread....anything is possible though, just a matter of time and money .

It doesn't necessarily have to be a jeep tranny, but one that will mate to a 4x4 transfer case would be a must.
