Need quick help: tranny crush washers
Stupid but possibly important Q: I bought the tranny plug crush washers from the dealership ... one is silver and a little smaller while the other is copper-colored and a little bigger ... guy told me carefully which one was TC and which one was drain pan. And guess who didn't write it down (I was so sure I'd remember ...). Which one goes where? The crush washer that came off the plugs were both small and silver, incidentally, but the two new ones are different from each other and the guy was specific which was which.
I've got the pan and TC drained and would love a little help remembering which washer goes where.

call the dealer?
I *think* the smaller is the torque converter. Better call the dealer to be sure.

I'm not really sure, but I distinctly remember that the TC one is a very snug fit.

Smaller is def torque convertor on my 80TD.

Uh Oh! I don't remember one being on the torque converter bolt. I hope that it is just my failing memory, and I reinstalled one on there......
The wagon doesn't leak tranny fluid really, but I bet I still will crawl under there and have a look.

Thanks guys ... it's gold = drain pan, silver = tc. I thought I remembered the smaller one being TC, but what confirmed it was when I checked DieselGiant's pictorial and saw the gold one on the drain pan ... plus winmutt if your's is smaller on the TC, that bolsters the case further.
I'm not sure how much it matters anyway ... like I said, the last ones on there were the same, and it worked out fine for 30,000 miles. Just figured I've been anally careful through this whole change, might as well be anally careful down to the last detail.
