What's IT? 300SD Mystery Part

Just switched engines in a 1980 Mercedes 300SD and found a part I can't
identify. The engine was titled in Califorina so I think it has some smog control feature. It's a part attached to the block next to the injector pump. There are three wires coming out of it, brown, blue and green.
Thanks for your help.

I've seen that on junkyard cars. It's on the side of the injection pump thats right next to the engine. I've always wondered what it was.
