Defroster: Why Always Hot?

Since my car's running great, nothing to fix, let me turn my energies and attention to something inconsequential....

Am I correct that the climate control system on defrost only blows hot? If so, why would this be? Makes no sense to me...there are plenty of muggy, rainy summer days when you'd want defrost to blow cold. Who would design something like this?

You forget that these cars were designed by a bunch of people in northern Europe, where there are two days in each year when the temperature gets in the 80's and you need the A/C.
And the call the 80's a heat wave, too!

Heat evaporates water, that's why it's always hot.

However, the A/C compressor will also run to dry the air before going through the heater core.

Just seems like having the choice, cold or hot based on the temperature setting, would make obvious sense....especially if they're making cars for an international market.

Although at least I'm in RI now instead of TX...closer to climate in which the cars were made.

But it did hit 93F in Stuttgart last July...and record high was 100!

I'm in Texas, and my A/C is out, too!
The A/C is like the job from hell....
