Warmup time on a 603?

I have an 87 300D. I only have to drive less than 1 mile and the temp has climbed to almost 80*. It opens the thermo at that point and seems fine. That seems like a short time to warm up to operating temps. Now it is a bit under 80* and not that high in wintertime. I thought an air bubble maybe or a bad sender but maybe nothing at all. My powerstroke takes about 5 miles to come up. Just wondering if something is amiss. Whadda ya think?

Normal. Looks like it's working well.

During the summer they come up to temp fast. But you will notice the oil does not.

My '87 300TD warmed very quickly since I owned it. Not knowing any better I thought it was normal; and in the winter very welcomed. I never had any cooling problems with the the car. I think the quick warm-up is due to the recirculating type thermostat and the placement of the temperature sensor.

I believe it is normal. I have the new head, 22 01 and my over heating problems are behind me.

My 87 took forever to heat up and then I replaced the bad thermostat and now it's like yours - takes less than a mile to get to temp.

Thumbs up

Drive it around a bit more, it's better for it.
