My '85 300D's passenger side mirror moves fitfully when I try to adjust it. It won't move at first, then it will move a lot (like it was binding up on something) and doesn't always stay planted where I set it.

According to the Haynes, one can pry the mirror itself off gently. Is this true? If so, will this get me access to the motor and mechanism? I'm hoping a good cleaning and lube will help out.
