Euro Light install

OK, so i've run into some intresting problem thus far on my euro light install and i thought i'd write a little about my install so that it might help others.

first off i'm cheap and never thought i'd have euro lights because i can't afford to buy the ones of ebay. but the other day i got a set out of the pick and pull for 19.99 each for the lights, and 10.99 each for the courner lights. I had been in a pick and pull the day before and found a euro car, but someone had taken the lights, so i cliped the wires and the plugs because the euros have the 5 prong connector and the US only has the 4 prong connectors. not thinking i'd need the plugs for a long time i decided to loose them.

then i got the lights, i went to install them and couldn't find the plugs. so last night when i would have been installing the lights i was doing nothing. then today i decided to take lunch at the pick and pull and see if i might be able to spot the plugs i needed. No luck. all US spec cars. then i got to thinking. there has to be a 5 prong connector in one of the dead mercedes that would work.... hmmm.... hey the glow plug relay has a 5 prong connector... and yup, it fits on the lights. i'm gonna have to resolder the connections in the plug because they are in the wrong places, but that is easy. so tonight i should be installing the lights.

i'll post pics.

Just crack open the plug and rearrange the wires. The solder on these cars takes a pretty hot iron.

They look great, Nik. Good job!!! You'll really enjoy the beam pattern and the better light they put out.

They make your car look years newer also, and much much nicer.

I dunno, from some angles it looks like a Volga. Mine is white also. Mulling over a change to Euro's. Maybe a set of driving lights under bumper.

They really look RIGHT with the euros, don't they?

yep, the next upgrade for the front is to get some coupe fog lights installed in the bumper.

FYI the tail lights use the same 6 pin connector, and if you don't have a parts car the dealer sells the plugs for $2

Euro headlights use the 3 X 2 taillight connectors

Yep, that's where I've sourced all of mine.
Save them off the parts cars before they get crushed.
I also dyke of a couple of barrel connectors with enough wire to solder into the amber park light harness for the 5W parking lghts in the headlights.
