Tranny and Brakes, why do they hate me?

Hey Folks,

I have a 1983 300D.

After replacing the Shut Off Valve, I started having 2 new problems with my car.

Both these problems started at the same time, right after I replaced the shut off.

1. Now, my Brake Pedal is to the floor, and I can't even remember the last time they actually "braked" me. Fluid is fine. Haven't found any vac leaks.
and
2. As I step on the gas, the tranny takes forever to engage. I have to play around with the gas pedal until it shifts gears, as I try to keep it from winding out.

Can ya help?
