It's above the kick panel on the passenger side. Getting it out is really straightforward on the w123 and w126. Just pull the kick panel and the bottom cover of the blower housing.

How can you tell that it is the blower motor at fault and not the climate control unit?

I do not know it is not the CCU. But I thought I would start by looking at the blower. What are we calling the kick panel? Is it the panel that if I was sitting in the passenger seat. If I moved my feet straight up I would kick the upper panel. Is that the panel we are talking about? Also where is the CCU located?thanks

yup, that's the kick panel. pull up the floormats and remove the screws that hold it in place, I think there are three accross the top, and two or so on each side. then take out all the screws holding in the bower. it will drop right down. simple.
the ccu is the thing in the center of your dash with all the buttons for climate control on it.

I know where is the blower and CCU are.Now I need to know where the auxillary water pump is.Have been doing a lot of reading. Looks like the water pump goes bad-takes out the CCU then the blower does not work. Are there any pictures anywhere of where it is at?

The aux. water pump is right next to the battery. If I were you though, I'd try all the simple solutions first, (fuses, blower etc), rather than jumping to the difficult stuff.

The fuse is good the fan is good.Going after the CCU next. Is it hard to remove the panel that the CCU is behind? Can you tell by looking at the CCU that it is good or bad? thanks

Hi Dave,

On my 82 300D, the CCU can be removed by carefully popping off the woodgrain plate and then unscrewing the two "top" and then the two "bottom" screws relative to the plastic plate that holds the CCU. This unit is the apparatus with the wheel, buttons, etc. I've heard they are troublesome and will tend to go long before the fan. I found one on eBay last weekend, myself, and it is on the way. Good luck! I think you can find one for $100-ish if you look around. This one is even cheaper.

Chuck
