Question Anything special about MB A/C?

I have an 84 300tdt that needs AC work. I have a great mechanic that I trust, but he has not worked on MB's and he does not feel comfortable trying (experimenting) on my car. Is there anything about MB's AC sytem that is vastly different from domestic cars? I'd like to tell him something that would make him realize that he will be able to fix it.
Thanks,
Vince

It uses R12 freon and has an GM R4 compressor. Really, it's very much the same as any other A/C system.

He is just scared of the Mercedes star on the hood.

Maybe he is scared of the "climate control" part of the heating and A/C system. As Forced said...It is the same type of system that an american car uses. In MY opinion, the A/C systems in Mercedes don't seem as large of a system that other cars use.
I just put my wife in to a '94 E320 gasser and she doesn't think that the A/C works as good as her '99 Toyota 4 runner. The Toyota will freeze you out.

I agree that Toyotas have amazing a/c systems, I've also found Hondas do as well. Go figure that the weak link on these cars is caused by the GM compenent.

When my AC worked it would really work, it would get way too cold in the car and I'd end up turning it off.

Kinda miss it..

Out Toyota van AC is OK. Certainly has worked without problems, but then again, the whole van has worked without any problems. Ever! {OK, the automatic sliding door can be quirky} But if you want to talk AC, my F-150 darn near blows out ice shards! And unlike our MB's, it gets colder when it is sitting idling. When I eat my lunch in the truck sometimes it gets down to about freezing coming out the vents.{literally 32 degrees} Don't know how the evap keeps from freezing, but I guess it doesn't.
Driving, it warms back up to about 40-41. I'm in year 11 with this truck, and the AC has never been charged.

That's weird, every car I've ever owned or been in (especially diesel Benzes) the a/c gets much colder the faster you go. Maybe your truck just has a really really good and efficient cooling fan.
