Hey, they do crush??!!!

Just to confirm something, my 80 300SD will start, well, should start even with all the vacume lines off the IP, right?

The only reason the vacume lines are there are to control the shut-down and the fuel advance for the turbo?

And, I just found new heat shields in town!!! They are a little bigger around the...um....inner ring thing....thingy, but that is where they are supposed to crush to make a proper seal, thats why you shouldnt use them, right?

Vacuum is used to stop the engine, control the emissions system and shifting firmness on the tranny.

You should use the heat shields with the smaller opening. But, if you can't get them, using the ones with the larger opening will not hurt.

ok, cool, thanks.

I know, well, at least i think I know where the vacume lines go, but one of them had what looked like a place where another hose could go, it was on a 3 way fitting on the top of the IP, but I'm not 100% sure and all the searching I did couldn't show me where that hose was supposed to be.

That stuff is for emmissions control? I would have never thought of that.

I know the one line goes to the adls (or whatever its called) but I wasn't sure if the others had anything missing.

oh well, as long as it doesnt hamper starting for now
