Dash Lights - Ick
Okay, so I have no CCU lighting, little switch lighting, and my instrument cluster is pretty dark. I'm looking for a source of ordinary plain vanilla 74 bulbs, unless I have some simple way of putting in LED's (the main turnoff for me there is that I would have to somehow find omnidirectional LED's for the CCU, etc, and I can't find any).
In short, does anyone have any sources for 74 or 74 replacement light bulbs? (74 is the bulb used in the center console, right? What's used in the cluster?) Does anyone have a recommended way of going about this? I have seen one of the LED mod pics, and I would be willing to go through with that, except that I would have to find omnidirectional LED's, and I would like to somehow have it be reversable.

Its a project to put in LED's, you need resistors, lots of LED's and good soldering skills. I'd say stick with the original bulbs. I'm good with soldering and I don't even want to mess with an LED conversion.

I did the LED conversion, it wasn't too bad.
I would go with just regular bulbs on the CCU though. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=185915 |

I know, yours was the thread that got me worrying about finding omnidirectional LEDs
![]() I guess I'll just go with bulbs and try to mass order them from... somewhere. Tried a 74 bulb from the local autozone recently. It looked like it was the right one, but the base was just a hair too wide.

I got my LEDS from Autolumination.com (I think) The ones I used were direct plug ins for the original bulbs, no soldering or wiring needed. I replaced the two that illuminate the guages. I bought the ones for all the idiot lights but I couldn't get the old bulbs out. The light output of the LED was different, not any brighter than the originals but definetly whiter.

Well, our local Autozone does have a lot of bulbs, but the one time I tried a 74 bulb, it was just barely too wide for the base. 74 is the right type, right? It's not 73?
Oh, and as for slow and patient work, I build computers and have had to correct CPU pins when they bent multiple times, so I can do a slow job (as I assume soldering would be), although I would prefer to either go with built in resistors or normal bulbs.
