need translation for swaybar / torsionbar
anyone? Bueller?
Torsion bar fancy word for sway bar, which in reality is an ANTI sway bar.
In some other cars and light trucks, a torsion bar is actually a spring. A sway bar keeps the vehicle from rocking side to side. Almost all cars have front and rear sway bars. I don't know of any Mercedes that have torsion bar suspension.
The FSM calls it a torsion bar.
Either way I found the part I needed direct from MB for not TOOO much money :). |
They are one in the same . A radial twisting force is resisted. The amount of resistance varies by design. Influenced by material thickness, Length, and hardness primarily. Leverage enters the equation as well when there is an offset like both ends of a sway bar. I suspect the first usage on cars was when independent front suspension came along to replace the solid front axel.
