Need PC lock ring tool for 617 only 60x listed in tool rental?

Anyone have one I can rent. I saw it for $40 somewhere and now all I can find is a $100 PC lock ring removal tool.

[edit]

I tried to use a punch and hammer to remove the lock rings from some junkers at pull a part. just ruined the ring. Found a bunch of good PC's figure I will pull a set and see how they go.

do you have access to a grinder? I took a 19MM socket and ground off two sides and fit it right in... worked great!

I saw a machine shop do the exact same thing. Convinced me that I was definitely in the wrong place.

Well the correct one has a bolt that bolts into the IP and then the dogears to turn. I did a fair amount of banging (with only regular hammer though) and didnt have any luck. I guess the 1" socket can work as well.

Any thoughts on used PC? I mean its not a wear item.

The shafts get loose in the outside housing over time. Eventually, the shaft falls out of the housing. I replaced all my PC's at 175K when the head was removed.

It all depends how far you want to go with the engine.
