Amazing 300SD

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230147558031&rd=1&rd=1

Wonder what it will go for? Suprising number of owners for so few stated miles. More history would have been nice.

It's a stretch for most people to buy that for $15000. For $15000, you can get an early 80's under-40k mile 300SD or 300D.

If anyone wants me to check that 300sd out I could do it, since I live nearby. That dealer always has some amazing cars there, amazingly out of my price range

A rare one for sure....

This could gain traction for someone who wants a rust free W116 diesel at any price. It's really tough these days to
find them rust free, not to mention museum quality condition. They only made them in 1979-1980, and only for the United States, so they are not that common, anyway. Some people just loved these.

Anything can be restored, but it's only original once. This one looks very nice.

It even seems to have the books and maybe records, too. For that many years and owners, that is a big plus, to still have them.

But what an awful color, some kind of pea green. Silver is the default color, and a non metallic pastel, or a dark metallic would be much nicer.

If the car had some regular exercise and there are no rotten rubber parts, and someone used diesel purge, put in all new filters, drained the tank, made sure all fluids were pretty new, the brakes not frozen, the AC worked, etc. it would be a car to really start using....

The seller is really new, but Midwesterners are pretty honest, and he is up front about the price. If he can connect with the right buyer, it will be good for all.

A car like that would last someone a long time, and would probably be better enjoyed that tucked away in a museum. It's life story would be pretty interesting to know.

Looks like an MBCA star on the window...obviously a well taken care of car. The color is somewhat nasty though.

If you have the time, I'd like to hear more about this car. I wonder what they are selling it for on the floor? I think that color would look better in person.

thanks

There's one for sale here in Denver, same color with about 150k miles. Price just reduced from 1500 to 1000. Runs well but has been kept outside and paint is faded. One or two small dents. Interior in very good condition. Leather I think. It's on Craigslist.

any reason you didn't buy it? I might be interested since I'm afraid it might cost me $1K just to get my 300SD up to where the one with 150K miles is at...at least $1K

Only the paint condition. It would be for my wife and she wouldn't tolerate poor paint.

Boy that car is beautiful. Until now I hated pea green, but that is so retro looking I love it.
