Pics of my 300D
I finally took photos of the 300D "parts car" I bought last month along with a pickup truck load of engines and extra parts.

Looks identical to the parts car I bought in April
It really looks like the same car. Your front end is up so I suspect the engine is not in it. But color and interior are very close if not identical. Are you going to part it out. Looks to good for that. Mine is definetly going to be my favorite driver, though I probably will put antique plates on it. Mine is running out quite well. A little low in compression in two cylinders when I got it, but after a couple of hours running it is really running well. Really no blow by at all. I can not stall it by closing off the vent from the VC to the air cleaner. The transmission is history I think and I have another waiting to go in. Just waiting for a nice cool fall day in September to get that done. Mine is an 84. What is yours?

Mine's an '84. This car has been in the NW since new, 6 or 7 years with the PO. No engine or trans in it currently. I have plans to get it running since I do think it's worth saving. No rust other than a few surface spots where the paint is chipped. Interior is good, no major cracks in the dash, just a few minor ones that I could fill with some material. The seats are OK, just a few strange discolored spots on the drivers seat. The back seat lower cushion strangely is leather while the rest of the car is MB tex. Must have been replaced somewhere along the line but the date tag on it is of the same vintage as the other seats.

Both 84's Here is a pic of mine
Yes, I noticed those dark brown spots on your seat. Did somebody dye those spots. My driver's seat is pretty bad looking also, it and the arm rest seem to have suffered from seat and sitting in the hot sun. All of the windlace around the doors is really burned up on mine also. Does anyone have a suggestion on replacing that corded windlace material? I surely would like to hear your experience. I will try to attach a couple pictures I have here on file that were taken by Bio Pete in Nashville last winter right after he salvaged the car.

I found evidence in the car that may point to what may have caused it's demise at the "low" mileage. It appears it may have been used by a teen aged female in its final days. There were numerous bubble gum wrappers, empty bottles of Sobee, hair scrunchees, numerous receipts for female items and one wrapper from a Korn cd under the seats.

Yes it was listed on CL as a "parts car". It cleaned up really nice. It looked like H---- when I got it. It had so much NW moss on it from sitting so long outside neglected that it looked a brownish green before washing it.
It needs a grille for the OBK badge.

man, i wished my 1985 300SD's body was in good shape as your "parts car".
my engine and transmission are in great working condition but the body has been damaged by rust/salt from the canadian winters. does anyone know how much time and money it would take to swap an engine (or engine + transmission) ? |

Mines a bit more rusty than I care to admit. Someday I hope to be lucky enough to find a "parts car" like that.

I knew I couldn't pass this one up when I found it. But at first I thought it was a little to good to be for real. The seller was originally asking $150 for it. So for another $50 I got him to deliver it plus throw in all his extra parts.
