190D Relay Question

I had a battery drain problem with my 1987 190D 2.5Turbo... Disconnected the battery and tracked it down with my ampmeter to fuse #12 and the relay for the power seats... I have disconnected the relay, and no longer suffer the battery drain problem, but I need to get the problem resolved. My Question is: Could the problem be with the relay itself? I can't seem to find fault with the seat switches or wiring. Thanks for any input or suggestions. -------Steve.

just a thought

Those seat switches are a bunch of ball bearings that make contact to
actuate the seat motor. Do the motors work and if so are the seats moving?
If the switches don't work but are in the"on" position they could be sucking your battery dry, but the seats should only work when the door is open or the car is "on"

So if the seat motors work and your seats aren't moving but the battery is dying I'd guess your relay needs to be changed.

Try unplugging the seat switches to see if there is still a drain. If so, relay possible, if not, switch.

Yes, the seat switches all seem to work just fine. I'll try another relay when I can find one. Thanks again.
