W123 wont shut off
Ok the weirdest thing of it all is my friend caled me at 3.25 am to tell me her 1984 wagon wont shut off,i said to her i didnt know how to fix that,but then today,my 85 w123 is doing the same thing,neither car will shut off,she has a w123 american
and mine is a euro 85 with that more modern looking IP nad vacumm. help,a diy troubleshoot?? |

heh....Mine won't shut off with the doors locked. I suspect evils spirits....or a vacuum leak in one of the doors...or both.

A vacuum leak in the "locked" circuit of the door looks, which is only aligned to the vacuum system when the drives door is locked (yellow vacuum lines with a red stripe).

Pretty sure I know just the culprit. The front passenger I alway shave to lock by hand after the others lock themselves. Just gotta get time to get in there.

If the car has a manual idle adjustment, turn it all the way down, then push the stop lever. I had to do this on my 1980 300TD until I repaired the vacuum pump. If no manual adjustment in the cab, maybe turn down the idle speed at the engine. Manually move the throttle linkage and observe what is stopping the movement at the low end of the travel. Steve
