W124 300D tock noise when braking
Hi Guys,
I've been getting close to sending my car for the local inspection. It's been a project having done large amounts of body, left rear wheel bearing, both rear lower knuckle bushings, rear shoes and springs, diesel purge, etc etc etc. I just had her out today, and I've heard a new problem. When I brake from 60 kph (40 mph approx), as I'm coming to the stop, I hear a toc-toc noise from the left front. The toc-toc is related to the speed of the car. I removed the wheel and found some play in the steering on that side. Has anyone had this problem before? I've checked the various joints and I think it *may* be coming from the steering box, but I'm really not sure. The only other clue is that i've just replaced the front pads and discs. Any help would be appreciated!

I've tried adjusting the steering box - didn't help. I've checked everything I had off during my brake job and everything looked fine

I am now sure that the noise is coming from the box. Has anyone had any luck rebuilding them? I know there is a seal kit available, but any of the internal parts?
