steering wheel and price. If you look at that site and see what used cars go for. They are about 1/4th compared to here. Which is ironic because they are about 50% more expensive when new.

The handle to the right of the steering wheel is for the ejection seat?

Actually there is a perfectly logical reason to that.

Used cars prices in the USA are the highest in the developed world because of Mexico. Actually the closest you get from The Border, the highest the used cars cost. Ever wondered why 10-20 year old pickups, SUV and small japanese cars are wickedly difficult to find and are often mightly more expensive than same vintage luxury cars.

In England to export used cars, you need to put them in a boat and that is more difficult than to just drive it to Tijuana or Nogales.
In continental Europe you can drive them to eastern Europe or better to the Ferry in Southern Spain direction the Maghreb. But Mexico (and Latin America) can actually absorb more used cars than East Europe and Africa put together. Hence the demand and the price differencial.

If you move back to England, what will they say about your Texas accent??

I have often wondered what it would be like to drive a manual RHD car and shift left handed. Is first still top left? (ie: same pattern?)

Even with a 5 speed I imagine that car is a total slug. Wagons are heavy and the 4 banger diesel is barely enough to get the sedan going.

Gearing is everything. My 21 ft class A 307d motorhome had the 616 with a 5spd and wasn't that bad.

I haven't concluded that European used car prices are all that good. $1000 for that wagon seems like a reasonable price, not cheap.

About 400lbs heavier.

3196lbs for a 300D and 3571lbs for a 300TD are MB's official weight specs.
