Squeaky driver's door W124
 
My car has this annoying squeaky/crunching noise when opening and closing the door. I've tried using spray lithium but no such luck in stopping the noise.
It seems to be worse on hot days than cold.

The door check might be broken or about to break.

You need a new door check - simple job and very DIY. You'll need about an hour.

Yep. And do it before it jams so that you can't close the door. And it's raining. Ask me how I know. :)

It does require taking the door apart, so now's the time to replace lock actuators, window motor, etc. if you need to.
