removing ETR switch

removing ETR switch

I'm wondering about replacing the ETR switch on a 1983 300D. I removed the passenger kick panel and located the switch. Unscrewed it and gently pulled on the probe wire but it wouldn't budge. Does it just pull out or is there something I'm missing?
