I need to find a source for the OM617 head gasket for a 79 300SD. It took me about 1 hour to pull the head and found the 2,3,4 cylinders were all leaking into each other. The job was not as hard as some had made it seem. I left most of the items attached to the head and just unbolted the exhaust,t stat housing , injector lines and a few other things. The timing gear was the hardes part to keep it from falling.

Where are you located? Many local McPart stores require special order. You could try NAPA or O'Reilly. Make sure you replace the head bolts also, as they are the stretch type.

You might have to go to the local Stealership.

they have compleate head set listed for $50.40 .and they ship all oirders over $50.00 dollars. there part number is A8010-26133.

Did you call them or are you just figuring that they ship everything from Georgia? Usually, the parts come from Worldpac and arrive in about 2 days.

I was able to get an elring brand from kragen for 23.40. Not to sure on the brand never heard of it before but it seems to be good quailty.

Same brand sold by FastLane.
