300SD / 126 brake light help.....

This post could probably easily go into the technical section along with the diesel section. But I'm a diesel guy so here goes.

The brake lights on my 1984 300SD don't work. I have done searches and narrowed things down but I'm at the point where I need some of y'alls expert advice.

Here is what I have troubleshot so far:

- brake stop light bulbs work
- I replaced all my old aluminum fuses (especially the #12 which handles the brake light circuit) with new brass/copper ones (previous searched post suggestion)
- I tested the brake switch with an ohmmeter. It is functional. (previous searched post suggestion)
- On the brake switch, I noticed three wires coming off of it: one black/red into a harness and another pair going into another harness. I believe the solitary wire has to do with the cruise control.
- BTW, my cruise and tach are non-functional. I don't believe this plays into this problem but ya never know.

What can I troubleshoot next? I do not yet have a manual. Does anyone have the elec schematic for this year/model?

Thanks,
.....Dan

I guess the big question is......are you getting 12 VDC to the bulbs? Also, have you checked the ground side of the bulb socket with an ohmmeter?
