Going to pullapart to get used rear diff mount, what to look for?

I am way over my budget this month for the car and need to put in a rear diff mount PRONTO. In 1st particularly around corners it sounds like someone is hitting the frame with a mallet. What to look for in a mount? This is for my 85 and most of whats on the lot appears to be non turbo at this point. Are they the same mounts?

That is going to be hard to say since the cars are usally on flats or blocks of some sort. You may get lucky and find a decient looking one. You might be better off saving the bucks and time and just pick up a new one next payday. I know times is hard here too, but you may be wasting good money and time on a something that looks good but doesn't do **** for you.

Putting in a used mount is sorta like turning your underwear inside out and wearing it some more, you can save money on washing

Exactly how much money, does a new mount cost..? I picked up brand new engine mounts for my 300CD, for $14.00 each less than a year ago @ NAPA, and the transmission mount was $19.95. The engine shocks are a different story, but are not expensive either. The rear dif mount, I imagine couldn't be priced much differently than the others though, Is it really that expensive, that you need to buy used..? It's like putting used brake pads on your car, or used windsheild wiper blades.

Rear diff mount is $65+. Pull a part doesnt list a price but a transmission mount is $6.

It should take now more than 30 min to pull 1 maybe 2 of them.

If the car is off the ground, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to pull one off. It's just 6 bolts holding to the body and diff.

If you do pull one look at the bolt holes and see if they look sort of like eggs (elongated). The holes should be round like circles. You could pull 2 or 3 and take your pick or buy them all if their cheap enough. I bought 2 fuel pumps for $15.00 last weekend, I figured 1 out of the 2 should be good! Good Luck.

$82 bucks from this site, $45 bucks from ******** Arizona. You might want to call Phil and see if they can be a little more competitive on price.

It amazes me the cheapness on this forum sometimes. A NEW W126 diff mount cost me around $40. No laying in the mud under a car at a pick and pull for a rubber part that is probably worn anyway.

I have to agree, and I am Mr. Cheap Guy. Going out to buy 25 year old rubber is pointless. Now, if you happen to be there and you see that there happens to be a car there that has a fresh mount, different story. But it's just not likely- I've never seen "normal" person change one.

What amazes me is the pompousness of you people. If I wanted to be berated I could have stayed living with my mother or go home and piss off my wife.

What part of money is tight, over budget and part has to be replaced now don't you people understand. I was asking for advice on what to look for which I got. The rest is all just hot air.

We do what we have to do mutt. Sure, it isn't the best idea, but lots of folks replace parts on their cars, then get t-boned by somebody, or break a chain, and their car ends up in the salvage yard. If my wagon went to the boneyard tomorrow, there is a lot of new parts that folks could benefit from.
Those of us that have more than one MB, and none are our daily drivers have to be budget minded when dealing with the fleet.
And it sounds like almost any you find will be better than the one you have...

Exactly.

Oil soaked rubber is not a good sign either. Is your old one already gone, or can it wait 21 more days, new month, new budget?

$40 is not bad, but no matter how good the price, if ya ain't got the cash, it does not matter how good the price is.
