Anyone using WMO??

We have a nice big tote of about 100 gallons of waste motor oil coming out of diesels. Has anyone used WMO in their diesels? I might have a GREAT source! I imagine that WMO filtering is just like WVO.

Don't burn it in your engine. It contains chemicals and fine metal shavings that will be difficult to filter out. Plus your exhaust would be the complete opposite that of an SVO user.. Smoke like no tomorrow, disgusting, and leave a nice residue everywhere

It will destroy:

-Injectors
-Injection Pump
-Engine
-Fuel Filters
-Environment

Don't do it!

Go for it. If it`s an old engine on it`s last leg, what you going to hurt?
metal shavings might fill in some of the gaps.
100% wmo might make a good mosquito fogger, you would look like one
of those airplanes at the air shows.
If you do decide to go this route, I wouldn`t mix any more than 15%. that
would be 3 gal in 20 gal.

Coors did that back in to 70`s on their big rigs. but I think it was 5%.
they had an elabrate filter set up. don`t know the results. epa probably
shut it down.

you could oil your road with it

yeh, don't run that stuff in ur car man. instead you can use it to heat spaces in the winter time.

for instance,

i think you can make your own heater though, if you are mad crazy DIY.

good luck

Don't oil roads with it. Ever heard of ground water pollution? Steve

Just like WVO/SVO, if it's not meant from the start to be a fuel, don't put it in your tank!

I have read of people having good success running as high as 50%.

Do a search here:

Hot filtered at 1 or 0.5 µm and up to 50% the OM617 and OM616 don't smoke and run very fine with WMO. But you really need to get it filtered at that level and manipulation of that liquid in particular is very yucky. You should also install a water separator because of the possible presence of cooling fluids.
I would recommend WHO (waste hydraulic oil) instead if you are interested in that.

If your car is a disposable beater go for it, when it blows up junk it and get another.

The marine engines that run that stuff heat it first, its called "bunker fuel". Those diesels are nothing like ours.

Yes, I have run WMO in an 81 300D, OM617 engine.
It does run, and run well.
Most every diesel engine running burns a small amount of WMO from it own crank case.
Many over the road trucks were setup to continually burn a small amount of the crankcase oil while it was being replenished from a fresh supply tank.

My experience has been that WMO is a good deal harder to filter than WVO.
And creates much more of a caustic mess that you have to deal with.

What does it do to an engine in the long term ?
Who really knows?
Has anyone heard of any real long term study?

As for polluting the environment, and vehicle emissions.

Something has to be done with WMO.
It has to go somewhere.
Incinerating it is one of the better ways to recycle the energy left in WMO.
Whether it is incinerated in an engine or a furnace, it would be a lot better than many other methods of ( disposing ) of the oil.

We cannot really ( dispose ) of anything on this planet,
no matter what we do with it, it is still here on the planet.

We can chemically change things by burning them, or let them decompose, etc...
but they just change states and become different things like heat, or a gas,
nothing really goes away.

just my $ 0.02

Have fun everyone

when I was still working, they used rerefined motor oil. used oil I guess
sent back to the refineries to be used again. I worked for the state of
Cali. they used it in every thing from pick ups to road graders. the oil was
called Firebird. it was 76 or Cheveron, don`t remember which one.
never seemed to have problems with the equipment.

That's OK, but these guys are talking about burning it in their engines.
