How to turn off water flow to 75 240D heater core?
I can't get the heat to stop drifting in to the cabin for the life of me. When it's 100+ out this is not really all that fun. Does anyone know which way to turn the heater control assembly to turn the heater core flow off?

I don't know anything about the 240D... does it have the monovalve or was that before it's time?
If it has a mono then jumper it to 12 volts and see if it actuates... if it does then you have a ccu problem, if it doesn't... do what I did and replace it with a ball valve until you can get your monovalve fixed

Maybe I just don't know which way to turn the dash control arms for no heat. There are no labels or anything to go off of.

The bottom two levers are the driver and passenger side heat controls. Slide both toward the center (towards each other) for the coolest air, and toward the doors (away from each other) for full heat.
Top left control is for dashboard/defrost ventilation and top right is for floor; again, slide them toward each other to cut off most of the air flow. You can also flip the switch on the round vents at the ends of the dask to shut off airflow there, and the switch for the center square vent (very top center of dash) open (can't remember now if it's left or right, but easy to tell) to bring in fresh outside air. I find this is the nicest in the summer and brings cool enough air in unless it's really hot outside. If you have air conditioning, turn the green knob below (that says "colder") to switch it on. Mine doesn't work; reportedly the A/C on a 240D saps enough horsepower to make it almost impossible to drive up hills with it on.

Very nifty and I appreciate you answering my questions! This has to be the best Mercedes forum ever! I bought a Lexus POS a few months back and just sold it, best thing I ever did. Mercedes are the "scheißen" hands down.

Check the wire levers in the engine bay attached to he firewall which control the dual range heat sometimes they are oxidized and cause binding causing some serious effort to move those temp and vent sliding knobs.

Thanks got it turned of the engine compartment pipe clamps were keeping the valves from closing all the way. Kudos diametricalbenz!
