Adjusting idle without tach?

83 240D

Obviously I know not to set it too slow as to stall but not sure what the happy medium setting is between too low and too high is

Any insight?

set it with the A/C on, and go as low as you can.

I would go with a smooth idle, without stalling, a test drive is in order! Yee-Ha! I know that sounds obvious, but without a tach, you really don't have much choice.

What AC? (I really need to fix that)

So basically as low as I can go without stalling, duly noted and will give it a shot

ooookaaayyy,,,, try it in gear with the ebrake set. that ought to give you enough resistance to get close.

Please don't do it alone. Have a helper in the car if you do that.

I don't see getting stuck ever a problem. If the idle needs to be adjusted it can be done from within the cabin via a knob
