Arm Rest Replacement
I got a spare armrest for the driver's seat to replace one on my 300D. The old one does not stay up. Does anyone know how to take the armrest off the seat?

Remove seat from the car remove back from the bench, this is done by removing the side plastic covers where the back meets bench and un bolting 4 bolts remove the covering on the seat. there is a nut inside that holds the arm rest on. job takes about an hour

Remove the back cover on the driver's seat. You will see what to do when you have it opened up. There are 2 screws on the bottom of that back panel that come out so the panel will come off, it pulls downward towards the floor. Do a search for removing the seat backs for more info if needed. Good luck.

thanks, everyone for the directions... got a full plate on the docket... changed the shocks, sway bar links and muffler and tail pipe on my explorer today. The exhaust work was a bit of a challenge. Luckily, my sawzall did most of of the work

You can do it with the seat in the car. Remove the one screw from the middle of the lower edge of the back panel and pull down. There are two 10mm bolts and one large one , maybe 24mm, (use a socket) cant remember the exact size. You'll see when you get the back panel off.

There should be an adjustment to tighten armrest. If there is a plastic trim piece on armrest, pop it off, loosen 8mm head bolt, tighten large nut, then tighten 8mm screw

In my case, the problem is that the round, plastic piece on the side used to release the armrest has come off. I think once those pieces come off theres not good way to put them back and make it work right.
