Transmission Cooler Check
Hello,
I had a transmission rebuild a few months ago. The car does great in the cold but when it gets warm or I drive a long distance on the highway the transmission shifts really hard from first to second. Could this be related to the transmission getting to hot? Is there an easy way to check the transmission cooler? The transmission shop said they checked the cooler but who knows. Any suggestions Thanks, Jay

First things first, check the level yourself by buying a dipstick, you'll save money in the long run.
The transmission cooler is inside the main radiator. The pipes enter on the left side. Top pipe accessed from the side of the headlamp (you'll see the access panel). Bottom pipe accessed by dropping the engine oil cooler (you don't have to disconnect anything, just one bolt) and viewing through towhook opening. http://www.flickr.com/photos/soundman/collections/72157600904335578/ When the fluid was changed, did they use MB ATF? |
