3500? wtf? seriously someone needs to take this guy out back and teach him a few things. ****. Needs motor and tranny? $10,000?

This reminds me of the guy trying to sell me a badged up 280SE Euro. wanted 3500 for it. rusted a bit, virtually no services records, "all i did was change the oil", shifted like ****--hell he did it manually for some reason, something was living in the glove box i think. he thought cuz me and my buddy were 19 we didnt know anything about cars let alone mercedes. well i've been on these forums for about 4 years now and he's been working on stock racing cars for the same...heh..so when we go to talk about buying it my buddy said we dont have 3500..so he says well ill take the price up to 5k, u can take out a loan to pay for it..yeah..and to this day the car still sits there. shady.

rofl, in an IDI Mercedes diesel??

I thought a 300TD qualified as an "old smelly diesel," like the press keeps mentioning in light of the new Bluetec....but then again, I could be wrong.

They are indeed very expensive in Western Washington. While I was hunting for my own Mercedes diesel, I saw lots of somewhat over-priced cars sell for obscene amounts. Any diesel W123 with a reasonable price always seems to sell the same day the ad is posted. I missed out on a few opportunities because of that, including a beautiful '84 300D. The owner was moving and posted the add on CraigsList in the morning. I called him when the ad was three hours old, and he had sold it already for $1500.

I'm pretty sure I only managed to obtain my car because I was the first person to call about it right after the car was posted for sale, and I happened to be five minutes from the guy's house when he called me back about looking at it.

Western Washington, especially Seattle, is crazy for these cars right now.

Good Lord!

In this vein, I am selling my 1986 300 SDL! Perfect in every way! Just $100,000!

How much is the need to drive an old Mercedes Diesel worth to you?

Please note: If you are dumb enough not to pick up on the sarcasam in the above statement than know that it was made in jest. If after reading this you still want to pay 100k for my SDL by all means PM me!

The reason they sell so well here in simple; Seattle has TONS (infact I'd say the capital of the world) of tree-huggers who ALL want to run either biodiesel or waste cooking oil. They have single-handedly driven the price of these old Benzes up to obscene prices.

The phone number comes up in Redding, CA. I guess they figure they can get more in the PNW.

OMG!!!! I guess everything is OK in the name of "saving the environment". Now where else have I heard this line.....??

I am thinking about grabbing every beat up Benz in a 100 mile radius and see how many fools there are in SeaTac. At $10,000 a crack I will include free delivery! Heck I could get to see the country and help save the planet!
