617 - Warm Engine Yields Lower Boost Pressure
Got my turbo boost pressure up to 10psi max using a cheapo boost controller. Works great, except after 12-15 mins driving the max boost I record is only 7 psi. Seems to be related to the engine being warmed up. Could the wastegate somehow not be closing completely at 90C? After the engine cools, the boost returns to 10psi for another 10 - 15 mins. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks Bert - NH

The turbo's waste gate spring can be sensitive to temps. Cold I can get 13 psi. Warmed up I get between 10.5 and 11.5 .
It would be best if you adjusted your turbos waste gate spring as it seems to be the weakest link.

Would it be advisable that if you want to adjust the wastegate spring, do it with the engine warmed up so you get 10-11psi when warm? Or will it still need a second adjustment to get it done right?
