reviving the 86 sdl

It is time for some major purchases, my wife sold her car tonight and now all of that money(not that much) is going into her 86 300 sdl.

the car suffered a major a/c melt down and the previous owner coped by using larger and larger fuses, this led to numerous other electrical abnormalities.

-the purchase list-

-A new engine wiring harness ( investigated used ones but worried about the quality)

-glow plug relay (pretty sure it has been effected by the old wiring harness's overloads)

-klima switch (does anyone know where i can get one, and the price)

-overload protection relay? (not sure if this needs to be replaced)

-four new tires from tirerack.com very good site design.

-new wipers

-new exhaust

hopefully that will get it on the road and inspected. and start knocking out electical ghosts. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

also, does anyone have wiring diagrams for the engine, i'm going to try to talk the dealer into giving me a copy of theirs. their nice but i get the feeling they want to call home land security eveytime i drop by.

thanks - James

BTDT...
Previous owner's mechanic oversized fuse in the AC slot, fried the relay in the klima and almost toasted the wiring harness. Seems that the cause was the AC clutch.
Nothing else seemed to be damaged.

Replaced AC clutch, klima and put in the right fuse. Seems to work just fine now.

It is fortunate that yours stopped there. upon investigation of my wiring harness more than one completely cooked wire was stripped of most of the insulation. its my worry looking through out the harness that similar cracks and brittle connectors riddle the system.
i'll start messing with the a/c after eveything else is straight.
