What kind of exhaust do you want? I've had a couple of different exhausts under my car... people who have seen it can tell you, I’m the guy with the crazy exhaust. Depending on the sound you want there are a ton of different options. If you want factory exhaust... you can ether get used or new, I don't know where you live but here in California it is easy to find good used exhaust.

Custom Exhaust #1

For a while I ran a custom exhaust setup that I made... something similar to the exhaust the factory had. I ran a set of tubular resonators... they were pretty much like "Cherry Bombs" but they were made by a California company called Blue Streak. I had them located directly under the drive line. They were both 3"OD 2"ID they didn't quite fit as well as I would have liked. then I ran some 2.5" pipe back to the stock muffler location and got myself a big muffler from eBay... it was kind of junky but had 2.5" intake and dual 3" chrome tips. I installed that in the factory location for the muffler. The sound was a little deeper and a little louder then the factory exhaust... but nothing to loud. I didn't turn any heads.

Custom Exhaust #2

This is the one everyone’s seen. I took nothing but 2.5" galvanized pipe from the hardware store and welded up custom exhaust. Just straight pipe. I ran it to the rear differential, then made a Y pipe and split it on ether side of the differential and then ran it out the back directly under the body seems you can see under the tail lights... so I’m like the only person in the world with dual exhaust on an SD. I like the sound. It’s loud to people on the street, but not loud in the car. It’s almost perfect.

Custom Exhaust #3 (Garrett’s Cat)

My roommate needed exhaust for his 300D after he installed a turbo 617 engine. So I made from 3" exhaust for him. It is much louder then my car. Sound just like a semi truck but it is still quiet in the car. It’s not a bad exhaust job. The piping actually looks really good and I like the sounds. But it might be a bit loud for some people.

Future plans

I want to re do the exhaust I have in my car and re make it out of 3" pipe. I might install some kind of resonator because I don't want it so loud. But I like the way the 3" looks under the car.

Just redid the exhaust on the SD. I bought a stock muffler from here http://*********************** a local muffler shop did the rest. I had the resonators replaced with a straight pipe. $500.00 total. Not loud enough for me, but I can live with it.
