I'm terribly sorry to have disturbed you guys

but it looks like I have an issue with my 603 that nobody's ever seen.
(the rough intermittend idle, like misfiring.)
I honestly don't know where to look anymore. several posts showed me I'm not the only one. (no replies)

when I find it, i'll let y'all know.

I don't own a 603, but

Greyish (blueish?) smoke indicates compression loss or un burned fuel. On my 617 a valve adjustment repaired the shaking, misfiring, and cleared up the smoke. Your detailing indicates good compression, so valve adjustment may not be the problem, but, you are not burning all of the fuel for some reason.

I know I will sure be careful how I word my posts from now on. Thanks for the instruction.

henrydupont,
I hope you find what you are needing. It can get a little frustrating searching the "archives". I always seem to be looking for that one particular part that has forty eleven different names for it. Good luck on your search. Wish I could help you.

The valves on a 603 are not adjustable.

Henry, I hope everything is going OK. You have been a little different for the last couple of weeks.
I don't own a 603, or I'd be happy to try to help.
Good luck, and leave the sarcasm to the experts........

Well for what ever this is worth, my suggestion would be to look at the valve guides. It seem like your not burning your fuel completly and I can't think of anything else since your compression is god and your injectors are working. Worn guides, really worn guides would be dumping oil into the combustion chamber where it would make grey smoke and possibly wind up in the intake tract. I would have to wonder if your timing is set properly as well.

Really worn guides wouldn't allow the high compression figures unless you believe the seats are perfect.

Oil in the combustion chambers won't cause a rough and irregular idle.

Oil generally produces white smoke when burned.
