1997 E300 Starting Troubles

I have a '97 E300 which I just purchased. The O-rings, fuel lines, and glow plug electronics were replaced. The car was running fine until I tried starting it after I had filled up with a new tank of gas. The car will eventurally start, but you have to crank it a while. I have notices that if I take hard turns with the car, it will stall out. There are some hesitatigons with starting from a complete stop. It seems as though the engine in not getting enough fuel. Can anyone help?

You're posting in the wrong section unless your car is a diesel.

E300 was only diesel so he has a diesel. Sounds like an air leak somewhere. can you see air bubbles in the fuel lines going into the fuel filter?

I will check and see. Could it be anything else. I did get a message after a while stating Engine Electrics and the check engine light is on.

It could be other things but I would check fuel filter and air leaks first. I would also do a search on this site for starting problems with you E300. Many people here have more knowlegle than I, I am just sharing what I have experienced with my car.

Go to autozone and have them read the code or buy a simple OBDII code reader so you can do it yourself in the future.

Report back with the code.

In the mean time park nose downhill and keep the tank +1/2 full. May help a bit in the mornings with the hard starts. Also look for fuel leaks with a bright light. Spray the fuel filter housing, fuel lines and top and sides of the IP clean with cleaner of chioce. If you've got enough air entering to splutter and stall while driving it should be easy to find.

In his post he mentioned a tank of "gas" so that's what made me think that.

Stupid question, but you didn't actually put gas in it, right? You put diesel fuel hopefully. You're already starting some confusion by calling the fuel gas...

secondly...do you wait until the glow plug light goes out before starting it?

As Terry mentioned have someone read the code if you are getting a CEL.
The glow system can do some odd things if your battery has a low charge....it can even through codes for electronic malfunctions and glow malfunctioms. It sounds like you have been cranking it for long periods to get it started. How old is the battery? Have it tested under load. If its OK give it a good charge.
It also sounds like air in the fuel filter.....maybe caused by a leaking O Ring on the small primary filter. The Secondary Filter (Can) is not getting fully primed with fuel so when your going around a corner the fuel moves to one side of the can filter and air enters the line to the Injection Pump/Shut Off Valve and then onto the Injectors causing the engine to stall or stumble. That would be my guess.

He doesn't say where he is. Diesel is known as "gas oil" in other places. On the other hand, I have said that I need to go put gas in the car.

And there was no gasoline-powered E300 W210. It's also not called E300D, although many people do put this on their posts, just to be a bit more clear.
